Northwestern TE Sean Rooks (#89 pictured above) got flipped by Commodore safety Sean Richardson in what was a physical Big Ten/SEC matchup this past weekend. Vanderbilt staged a valiant comeback effort late but fell to the Northwestern Wildcats 23-21 in Nashville, TN. Saturday night.

Eastern Kentucky WR Orlandus Harris' (#9 reaching above) one hand snag was just one of the many highlights to start off the weekend last Friday afternoon. After getting stormed out of action in Springfield, MO on Thursday night, the Bears of Missouri State ate up the Eastern Kentucky Colonels 31-9 in front of their hometown fans.

Even though they announced a starting quarterback for this weekend, the Penn State Nittany Lions still have a lot of unanswered questions as the season kicks off against Youngstown State on Saturday.

Vanderbilt quarterback Larry Smith (pictured with ball above) has been doing the job as a leader for the Commodore program over the summer. The 6’2” 220 pound junior is an explosive athlete with one bowl game victory under his belt in his brief career. New head coach Robbie Caldwell has reinvigorated many of the team’s players with his infectious attitude. With the departure of the school’s only bowl-winning coach in the last thirty years, Bobby Johnson, that energy is much needed.

The Big 12 has a lot to prove this season, but after studying the conference, cornerbacks such as our preseason Defensive Player of the Year, Texas’ Aaron Williams (#4 pictured above), should make life difficult for an impressive crop of quarterbacks. In recent years, the conference has been home of the QB, but in 2010, we feel the defensive backs will make their case as the conference’s best group of pro prospects.

The DraftNasty 2010 Preseason All-WAC Team is led by none other than Boise State QB Kellen Moore (#11 pictured), a first-team all conference selection a year ago after tossing 33 touchdown passes. This year he will be challenged by a host of other signal callers to keep his crown. Idaho’s Nathan Enderle has NFL scouts extremely excited about his size and deep ball accuracy. Meanwhile, Nevada’s multi-purpose threat Colin Kaepernick may have the best field speed of any offensive player in the conference....
